Having a job taught me how to do things, but the skills that I’ve acquired working on the agency side are not the same as the ones I’m using in creating my first company. This is something that I’ve learned after 2 days in business.
At work you’re taught to do something, get it done, maybe talk to a client to deliver and that’s it. However, when you work at a job you rely on someone else’s brand to get work. Now that I’m working for myself, I rely on my own brand, and I’ve learned that my brand is not good enough.
My marketing skills are not good enough. My sales skills are not good enough. The good thing is that now I know what I need to improve and what I should do every single day – promote and sell, do it relentlessly, and feed my brand with more information about this subject.
If I do it a lot (10,000 iterations) and for a long period of time (10,000 hours) I’ll become great.
Results for the first two weeks :
No new client – talked to some potential leads but no success so far
for my productized service I’ve picked 3 acquisition channels
Cold Outreach (Email automated)
Linkedin (Content + Warm Outreach)
Facebook Group ( content + engagement + warm outreach )
what I’ve learned:
- you don’t need a finished product
- You don’t need a perfect landing page
- experimentation is key
- you need to sell and promote (everyday)
- talk to people
there is a good book Ready Fire Aim that explains how to scale a businessfrom 0 to 100M and what he said in the book is that if you want to reach 1 million dollars in revenue you just need to sell, that’s it
so that’s what i’m going to do : sell
